Riang
Raing live in Shan State. They are thought to be related to the Was and Palaungs and they also speak Shan. Some scholars believe they are related to Palaungs and other say they are Karens.
Raing are divided into three main clans, that include Yinnet or Black Riang, Yinnset or Stripped Riang. It is custom for men and women of both clans to have their four front teeth capped in gold which is then inlaid with ruby and green jade. This is regarded as a mark of great beauty. Yinnet girls wear lacquered hoops around their waists and silver discs strung with colorful heads in their ears, while Yinset boys wear tufts of cotton on their shirts.
