Literary awards of tun foundation announced

Tun Foundation's scrutinizing committee for selecting award winning books scrutinized the award winning books of two categories - book and manuscript. The committee designated eight subjects for one category with book, manuscript and English Language.
A total of 13 award winning works - seven books, seven manuscripts and two books in English are selected by the committee. Those who won awards for the book category are Khin Khin Htoo in the history genre, Moe Moe Taraw San in the biography genre, Junior Win in the children literature genre, Win Maung (Tamma Waddy) in the culture genre, Dr Soe Lwin in the health genre, Dr Toe Hla (member of Myanma Historical Commission) in the ancient treaties genre and Maung Wun Tha in the reference book genre.
Those who won awards for the manuscript category are Maung Nwe Than in the history genre, Hla Toe (Psychology) in the biography genre, Minbu Aung Kyaing in the culture genre and Mya Mya Cho in the ancient treaties genre.
Selected Writings of Daw Kyan (Bilingual) written by Daw Kyan and Collection of Hpyat-sar, Legal Cases and Court Decision of Myanmar Kon-Baung Period (AD 1752-1885) written by U Tun Yi in English are also selected as the award winning books for 2006.
The winners are urged to contact Tun Foundation, Ph 01-291881 and to give their two passport-size photos and biographies to the committee.
Those wishing to participate in the competitions for 2007 may send manuscripts and books to the committee.
Tun Foundation established Tun Foun-dation literary awards last year as part of efforts for the development of Myanmar literature.
