Kalaw
Kalaw is a hill town in Shan State of Myanmar. The town was popular with the British during colonial rule and it is still a peaceful quite place. Kalaw is halfway between Thazi and Taungyi, located 70km west of Taungyi. Traveling by car, it's about two hours west of Nyaungshwe on the western edge of the Shan hills. At an altitude of 1320 m it is also pleasantly cool and a good place for hiking amid gnarled pines, bamboo groves and rugged mountain scene.
Many of the local speak Engilish because of the British colonial and missionary heritage.
