Mandalay
Mandalay is the second largest city and one of the ancient royal capitals of Myanmar. It is located in Mandalay Division (state), which is located in the middle dry land of Myanmar. The city is founded by King “Mindon” at the base of Mandalay Mountain at 1857. It is the last royal capital of Burmese Kingdom before it lost independence to British in 1885.
Since Mandalay is second largest city and trading post of upper Myanmar, it is bustling with trading and shopping. The city roads are crowded with a lot of bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks and the roads are dusty due to the dry weather. The weather in Mandalay is usually very dry and hot during the day, but the temperature could drop considerably at night and dawn.
Since weather is hot and dry, you might also want to hire taxi or tour company with air conditioned cars. The city international airport is located about one hour driving distance away from the city.
